Stocking up for the christmas markets, a whole bunch of notebooks and bookmarks to get through. My work space is actually a complete mess with piles of products in different stages of completeness and three empty coffee cups. So clearly i'm not taking a photo of that.
More (hopefully tidier) creative spaces over here.
A moon cookie cutter!
Which of course called for a batch of gingerbread moons. And while we baked we listened to this album. It's really great, track 2 my favourite i think.
The US Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Craft magazine finally hit my mailbox... i've been waiting impatiently for it to cross the pond. The special holiday edition includes a little Moonmum gift card project!
The magazine Includes full instructions to make my christmas doily gift cards. Only available in the US. So nice to see Moonmum in print and so beautifully styled too!
Yesterday i was loving books. Today i'm cutting them up.... some old science books rescued from the op shop. This is a sneak peek of a whole lot of new wall art coming next week! And i may also have picked up a few extra things to cut up at said op shop.
More creative space over here.
Tell me... if you are reading a book and it's really not doing it for you, do you persist anyway, hoping that it will get better? Must you see it through to the bitter end? Do you resent time wasted on a book that ends up being highly unsatisfying?
Or do you cut your losses and move on? I most definately follow the "life's too short to persist with a bad book" school of thought.
On the other hand, there are a select few books that i go back to time and time again. Do you have favourites that seem to offer something new each time you read them? That are like catching up with an old friend every time you open the cover?

As for me... just before midnight last night i finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Have you read it? I was totally absorbed. I like a couple of days after finishing such a great book to contemplate and absorb it, so it hasn't quite settled in me yet. I would absolutely recommended this one, it's amazing.
Looking forward to hearing what you guys are reading at the moment!
Fresh from the sewing machine are a new batch of bookmarks! I'm actually quite chuffed with them for a couple of reasons, not the least of which are...
1. More and more i'm using repurposed papers, these are made from my growing collection of vintage wallpapers.
2. I love books. Love them. I have too many yet still buy more. Even as the digital world runs me down and beats me into submission, a reader will never mean quite the same thing to me as a book in my hands.
3. I don't know about you guys, but there is never a bookmark close by when i need one.
4. They're pretty.
There are four bookish type sayings:
"A good book must be savoured... morsel by morsel, page by page."
"Books... glorious books."
"A good book is good company." and
"Life's too short to persist with a bad book."
I'm hereby declaring next week book week here on the blog, in which i'll be giving away a couple of sets of said bookmarks! I'll be photographing these lovelies and getting them into the shops over the next couple of days. Enjoy the weekend guys.
Did you grow up in a house that had a pair of "good scissors"? The scissors that absolutely weren't to be just grabbed and used for any old thing? That lived in the sewing room? That required permission to be asked and interrogation made as to their exact intended use?
I did. But I never really understood.
The Moonlets had a craft attack yesterday after school, there were bits and pieces all over (and under) the table, projects akimbo and sticky tape everywhere. And then i saw one of them, with work in hand, turn to my sewing table and reach for my "good scissors"... I panicked and had to intervene. We had the talk.
And now i understand mum, i do. Good scissors indeed.
I washed our little set of old cups the other day, set them on the drying rack and thought no more about it.
The next time i walked past the kitchen, however, and without even thinking about it, i rearranged the cups into colour-wheel correct order. What is that about?
I'm a little concerned that some mild OCD-ness is sneaking upon me. But they look pretty, right?
When all is quiet on the blog it usually means that all is certainly not quiet in this house... and the last two weeks are case in point. School holidays saw us tripping away, having houseguests, catching up with family, attending to a swarm of bees that set up house in our garage, marvelling at a visiting echidna (!!!), filling the vegie patch with new plantings and in the inbetweens i've been working on some new Moonmum bits and pieces.
All is back to routine this morning. Some making time all to myself which hasn't happened in those two weeks... uninterrupted, oh the luxury!
