Paper patchwork

Playing around with the idea of paper patchwork.

Lots of tiny squares of paper in beautiful colours and patterns, mixed with different machine stitches. These are a couple of experiments in progress.

Market preparations

I've been flat out this week finishing off bits and pieces for a market on Saturday. So much sewing! 

A small batch of mother birds cards made it through production too. It's been a while since i've made these, although i'm not sure why as they're one of my favourite designs to make and one that always sells well too. 

And this dog. My constant companion this week. It's been so hot outside that she comes inside to sprawl on the cool tiles. She has quite a knack of knowing exactly where to sit to be perfectly in the way underfoot.

Using maps

On my desk the last couple of days... old atlases getting cut up. I'm making a few more adventure sets which have been out of stock for ages. 

A few pages i used for bird cards too. 

Winning

Rather happy with this morning's effort... the sewn pile is now larger than the to-be-sewn pile. Oh yeah.

Sewing owls

Some colourful owls on the sewing machine today.

I snuck in a little sewing time this afternoon when the kids were (briefly) playing together nicely. Moonmum stocks are low in the aftermath of christmas and the sale, so lots of sewing and making to do to get the first shop orders of the year out the door!

Production line

The dining table is buried beneath the production line today. 

Which is fine until dinner time.

The annual paper sort

Sorting through my paper collection today. A task i only embark on once a year because it's really just too hard.

What stays... what goes... why do i have such an unreasonable attachment pretty paper... why can't i be more ruthless in the cull? Rest assured however, most of those wallpaper rolls will still be here tomorrow :)

Embroidery and the Pixies

I found this sweet doily at an op shop ages ago with the plan to use it for something, someday... 

Our daughter's nickname is Lala and this is the title of an old Pixies song, do you know it? Now the embroidery is done i'll make it into a pillow for her i think. 

 

Productivity vs mess

I firmly believe that the success of a day's making can be measured by the resulting messiness of one's desk. 

And unfortunately my workspace is the dining table, so at the end of every creative day comes the tidy. Which obviously completely sucks.
