Books and bots for market

Making for market has been my week so far... stocking up on lots of colourful cards and wallpaper notebooks. This weekend i'm tripping down to Melbourne for the Yarraville Market. 

The cute pink owl is new this week, i couldn't go without an owl :)

I'll also have with me a new batch of the bad tie bots! Only a small batch this time. Remember these fellows made from vintage ties? Perfect little door hangers or ornaments to geek up any corner of the house.

Geeking it up

Thought i'd put a few robot gift sets together...

Each set comprises a bad tie bot and a specially made wall art piece in a matching piece of the vintage tie. I think these would make a perfect little present for a robot lovin' boy for chrissy! (Be them young or old) Together they'll put a bit of quirkiness into any corner of the room.

One simply had to be made... a girly type bot

Apparently there was no way i was going to make a batch of robots without my daughter getting a girl version... In a four year old's eyes that would have been simply unacceptable!

She chose a couple of cute vintage buttons. The body fabric is actually an old hankie (washed most definately!).

Putting bad ties to good use

Introducing the 'Bad Tie 'Bots'!

I've had the idea for these fellows rattling around my head for a while now and they have finally come to life...

These fellows were one of the sneak peeks from my last post... My original robot design adapted to door hangers, made from a second-hand grey blanket and old men's ties. I have a stash of old ties that i've picked up at op shops over the years because i love the patterns and colours. The ties are washed, unpicked, ironed and become the body of the robot and the little square heart. Each one uses a different combination of ties.

As each fellow was sewn and finished off i've been hanging them up behind me, much to the moonlets amusement. As an aside, that cabinet is actually an old dentists cabinet, lots of shallow drawers to store bits and pieces.
