Crocheting granny squares for this with the help of some video tutorials. I've been doing a little each night in front of the tv and my progress is surprising, two squares done and another started!

You may remember a while ago i posted about the lovely Amanda from Melbourne who was rasing money for the Hamlin Fistula Relief and Aid Fund. (wow that was actually a year ago!!) I posted off a parcel of Moonmum goodies to sell at a fundrasing market... again this year Amanda is continuing her support of the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia but in a different way, by putting together some woollen blankets to send over to the women of the hospital. The winters get very cold in Ethiopia so the women of the hospital always need blankets and shawls to keep them warm.
Essentially the hospital provides medical support to women who suffer from a horrendous complication during childbirth which often leaves them with a still-born child, incontinence and ongoing medical problems. While the condition is treatable in developed countries, in Ethiopia these women are shamed and outcast from their families and communities. So... I'll be attempting to dust off my crochet skills and contribute a couple of squares to the blankets. Also, through The Square market which i help organise here in Bendigo, we'll be hosting a drop-off point for contributions at our next market if you'd like to help out too! It'd be great if you can knit or crochet a 25cm square in 8ply wool. If knitting, please do the squares in garter stitch.

Well, my little blog space has been very quiet hasn't it? The market is taking up much of my head-space and internet time, in addition to the usual craziness that accompanies this time of year. Plus one sick child.
But this afternoon i am happily getting through the last preparations for tomorrow's stall at The Square here in Bendigo, prettying up some notebooks, putting together the last christmas cards of the season and also frantically cleaning the house for the imminent arrival of some family visitors. Yes, the only time this house is ever respectable is when we're expecting guests!
And because the year is finishing up, i'm having a little clear out of my wall art pictures at my stall... there are few pieces that were special orders never paid for, designs/colours that i'll no longer be doing and a couple of seconds too. They will be just $10 tomorrow, half price for you lovely locals.

As you guys know, i'm one of the organisers of The Square: Bendigo's Handmade Market which is launching in just two weeks time! In the lead up to our debut market we are completely chuffed to be involved in a special event happening at Star Cinema next week...
Direct from the Melbourne Film Festival, the cinema is screening 'Making it Handmade: The Documentary', which looks at the recent rise of handmade and craft in Melbourne. The film will be followed by a Q & A session with Anna Brownfield (the doco maker) and little old me, a devonshire tea, we'll have a stall of handmade goodies available and a chance to win a hamper from Bob Boutique. Impressive yes?

As i mentioned a couple of posts ago, i'm one of the organisers of a new market starting up here in Bendigo called The Square. At the moment we're getting the word out to potential stallholders. We had a great write up in the local paper on the weekend...
And finally a good photo of me! Blurry and in the background :) So nice to see word getting out about the market to a wonderfully positive response. Thank you to those local lovelies who have sent in applications already and those who are simply offering support and encouragement, much appreciated.
